From ESG initiatives to ISO 20121 Certification: FITP Publishes the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals Sustainability Report
The Italian Tennis and Padel Federation (FITP) has published the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals Sustainability Report, highlighting the environmental, social and governance (ESG) results achieved and reaffirming FITP's commitment to promoting an increasingly responsible, inclusive and sustainable model for major sporting events.
The 2025 edition marked a further step forward in integrating sustainability across all aspects of the tournament, with more than 70 ESG initiatives implemented, including over 20 introduced for the first time. This progress was made possible thanks to the contribution of 12 partners involved in dedicated sustainability projects.
Among the key achievements of the 2025 edition were a 10 per cent reduction in the event's overall greenhouse gas emissions compared with the previous year, the recovery and donation of approximately 126kg of surplus food to Banco Alimentare, the expansion of accessibility and inclusion initiatives, fundraising activities in support of the Fondazione Piemontese per la Ricerca sul Cancro carried out together with Intesa Sanpaolo, and the further development of circular economy practices through the installation of five Valmora–Coripet eco-compactors across the Inalpi Arena and the Fan Village.
The year 2025 also marked the achievement of ISO 20121:2024 certification, the international standard for sustainable event management, recognising the Nitto ATP Finals' commitment to integrating environmental, social and economic considerations into the planning, delivery and reporting of the tournament.
This certification represents an important milestone in FITP's journey to embed ESG principles more systematically into the event's governance and organisational processes, reinforcing an approach based on continuous improvement and the creation of long-term shared value.
A further milestone was the definition of 10 strategic sustainability objectives that will guide the development of the Nitto ATP Finals through to 2030. Developed with the support of Enovation Consulting, a consultancy specialising in sustainability for the sports sector, the plan sets out a long-term strategy aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including interim targets for 2026 and 2028 and final objectives for 2030, supported by concrete actions to achieve them.
