Ben Shelton has improved his Nitto ATP Finals qualification hopes and jumped three spots to third in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin after reaching his first major final at the US Open.

The 23-year-old was aiming to become the first American man to win a Slam since Andy Roddick triumphed in New York in 2003. However, he was unable to find a way past Alexander Zverev, who is now a two-time major champion.

Shelton is in a strong position to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin after reaching the final at the US Open, where he overcame Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals to earn his first Top-3 win. The lefty is hoping to make his second consecutive appearance at the prestigious year-end event, having made his debut in 2025.

Carlos Alcaraz – Fourth (4,050 points)
The Spaniard returned to the Tour after more than four months out at the US Open, where he lost to Shelton in the quarter-finals. Alcaraz will hope to compete in Turin for the fourth time, with his best result coming in 2025 when he reached the final.

Tiafoe is trying to qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals for the first time and has climbed to sixth in the Live Race after advancing to his third major semi-final at the US Open. The American, who lost to Shelton in New York, is 42-17 on the season, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index.

Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev have already qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals, taking place from 15-22 November at Inalpi Arena in Turin.
