Sinner surges to second in Live Race following Indian Wells
Jannik Sinner didn’t just lift another trophy on Sunday at the BNP Paribas Open, but he also surged to second in the PIF ATP Live Race to Turin.
Arriving in California without a final appearance in 2026, Sinner emphatically rewrote that narrative. Producing a flawless run in Indian Wells, the 24-year-old etched his name in the history books, becoming only the third player to complete the full set of all six hard-court ATP Masters 1000 crowns, joining Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. The victory also delivered a valuable 1,000 points, strengthening his position in the Live Race.
A two-time defending champion at the Nitto ATP Finals, Sinner has his sights set on a return to Turin this November. There, he will look to achieve a rare feat and become the first player since Djokovic (2012–2015) to win three consecutive titles at the prestigious season finale.
Medvedev is also well placed in the Live Race after he reached his third Indian Wells final. The 30-year-old is third on 1,650 points and is aiming to compete in Turin after he let slip his six-year qualification streak in 2025.
Medvedev upset Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals in California and now leads the Tour with 18 wins in 2026. Earlier this season, the 2020 Nitto ATP Finals champion lifted trophies in Dubai and Brisbane.

Alcaraz, Djokovic, Alexander Zverev, Alex de Minaur, Ben Shelton and Felix Auger-Aliassime complete the Top 8 after 10 weeks of the 2026 season. All six have competed at the prestigious year-end event in the past, with Djokovic a record seven-time titlist.
Jakub Mensik, Alexander Bublik and Learner Tien are ninth, 10th and 12th, respectively, and are all trying to qualify for the first time. Mensik and Bublik suffered third-round defeats in Indian Wells, but 20-year-old lefty Tien advanced to the quarter-finals. Tien was the youngest American man to reach that stage in Indian Wells since his coach Michael Chang in 1992.
The Nitto ATP Finals will be held from 15-22 November at the Inalpi Arena in Turin.
