The master plan of the 2024 edition unveiled Monday in Turin

There are only 110 days separating us from another unmissable celebration of tennis in the shadow of the Mole Antonelliana... the most eagerly awaited showdown of the year, the one 'Where Champions Become Champion'.

From November 10th to 17th, for the fourth consecutive year, Turin will host the Nitto ATP Finals, the tournament that features only the world's eight best players and the eight best doubles pairs. To celebrate in the best possible way the grand finale of a particularly impressive season for Italian tennis, the Inalpi Arena, and the entire site hosting the event, will be embellished with engaging new features and modern innovations that will help make the Turin week unforgettable-for players, fans and partners alike. To illustrate these innovations, a press conference was held this morning at the Intesa Sanpaolo skyscraper in Turin to present the master plan of the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals.

After greetings from the host, Intesa Sanpaolo President Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, and speeches by Italian Tennis and Padel Federation President Angelo Binaghi, ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi, Piedmont Region President Alberto Cirio, and Turin Mayor Stefano Lo Russo, and after Luca Villa, EMEA General Manager Regions, read a message on behalf of Nitto Denko Corporation President and CEO Hideo Takasaki, FITP Director General Marco Martinasso detailed the master plan with all its new features.

STRUCTURAL INNOVATIONS AND QUALITY SERVICES IN THE 2024 MASTER PLAN
Fans, and the quality of their live experience, are the main focus of the presentation of the Nitto ATP Finals 2024 master plan. On the fourth Italian edition of the great end-of-season showpiece, the Fan Village pavilions will undergo significant expansion and development, with a view to ensuring full integration between commercial activities, sports activities and catering offerings. In order to make the experience that Turin wants to reserve for fans even more exciting and engaging, and to guarantee them a better stay, the total capacity of the Fan Village will rise by 30 per cent, from 4,000 guests in 2023, to more than 5,200 in 2024. The project includes a considerable expansion of the pavilion dedicated to partners and commercial activities — over 2,700 square metres an addition of 50 per cent compared to 2023 — with new retail offerings for partners who have always stood by the event. The catering pavilion — more than 3,200 square meters, and +30 per cent seating — will offer a wide range of food and wine, reinforced by a second 100-seat à la carte restaurant. One of the distinguishing features of this pavilion will be a 60-square metres LED big screen that will allow fans to 'immerse' themselves in the spectacle of the Inalpi Arena and not miss a single skill that the eight qualifiers will showcase. Spaces in the pavilion dedicated to sports and entertainment activities will be redefined, in order to improve the flow of the public and consequently improve the awareness of the racquet disciplines of the FITP: in this 2024 edition all racquet sports will be present thanks to pickleball courts - in addition to a central one with stands, there will be two more in the pavilion dedicated to catering activities and two more outdoors — a beach tennis court and a padel court.

Spaces dedicated to FITP promotional activities and eSports, which are also increasingly appreciated and followed by fans, will be built in that same pavilion. Simultaneously with the big tennis event, the first edition of the Nitto ATP Finals eSeries will also be held in Turin, where the eight players of the 'Road To Turin' qualifying circuit, which from September will see fans engaged in physical tournaments and online events promoted by the FITP in collaboration with the Tennis Clash gaming platform, will meet at the Nitto ATP Finals for the grand finale and the awarding of the title of ‘2024 eSports Champion’.

The evolution of the entertainment concept will allow the Fan Experience to be more and more engaging and modern. The lights and colours of the Fan Village façade, totally renovated to guarantee fans an immersive full LED experience, will be flanked by a scenic animation project with video-audio content that will affect the entire Piazzale Grande Torino and the Inalpi Arena. One of the biggest innovations in the design evolution of the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals is represented by a modern covered and heated connecting canopy that will ensure continuity between the entertainment and relaxation pavilions and the court, where the eight best players and the best eight pairs of the season will compete for the Nitto ATP Finals Trophy.

STATEMENTS

Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, Intesa Sanpaolo President, said: “It is an honor for us to be a Host Partner again, a role we cherish. We support tennis because it embodies values that we share. We recently announced the partnership with Jasmine Paolini, now we have in our ‘team’ as testimonials the two great Js of Italian tennis: Jannik Sinner and Jasmine Paolini. Young athletes who express determination, seriousness and that lightness that is synonymous with agility of thought.”

Angelo Binaghi, Italian Tennis and Padel Federation President, said: “Today I am playing in advance and talking about the possible renewal of the Nitto ATP Finals in Italy for the next five years. These have been important months in which we have been busy on the sporting side to follow the exploits of our boys first and our girls later, but they have also been challenging from the organisational point of view. We have had excellent feedback, the most important one of which we are most proud is the strong support of our government, which encourages us even more to move forward. In these days we are finalising the discussions with our partners and our most important sponsors, we are confident that we will have an answer soon and that in our weeks we will be able to formulate our best proposal to the ATP. We continue to be very confident and aim to be able to hold the Nitto ATP Finals in Italy for a further five years.”

Andrea Gaudenzi, ATP Chairman, said: “Fourth year in Turin, an immense success from every point of view: audience, players. The ATP is proud, and I especially as an Italian, we are proud of what Italy has done and what Turin has done. It was a great team effort and I am here to thank everyone starting with the commercial partners - Nitto, Banca Intesa Sanpaolo and all the others - the fans, the public, and let's not forget you, the media, who tell this fantastic story and help us so much. However, I would like to give a special thanks to the FITP, to Angelo, because he anticipated me in his speech and because I remember back in 2018 and I myself at the time was a bit sceptical coming from London and all the uncertainties both operationally and economically of being up to this huge event, and I have to give him credit for doing a fantastic thing: he took the risk at a very difficult time, and he did a great job with his team - Marco, Giorgio and the others - to ‘deliver’ a wonderful thing of which we are proud and of which all the foreigners who came here - from the players to all the ATP members - are really proud. And I wanted to thank you, Angelo, for all the support you have given to the ATP, to the changes of these years, because I believe that in common we have the desire to do, to change and to improve, always with integrity but with a lot of energy.”

Stefano Lo Russo, Mayor of Turin, said: “I also thank Professor Gros-Pietro. Being mayor of Turin, knowing that we have such a strategic partner for development in our city, does not make you sleep so soundly, but every now and then it helps to think positively about the future. And speaking of the future, I am very happy Angelo that you have broken this thing in which we are all being challenged, the spirit of determination that you have put into such an important and challenging statement is exactly the same spirit of determination that we have put into the organisation of this event from the beginning. Because it's a great sporting event, with the eight best tennis players in the world, a great thing for fans, but I think the magic of the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin was to combine this dimension on the court with everything that revolved around it; the city dressed in tennis, the initiatives that went on all year round, before and after, and all this let me thank you under the management of Mimmo Carretta, the councillor for sport and major events of our city, who has really been doing a super job lately. The 2024 edition is an important one, the projected numbers are a bar that we have to surpass.”

Alberto Cirio, Piedmont Region President, said: “We thank this relationship of trust that continues. Trust is something that presupposes that you are not alone, because it is necessary for one to give you trust and we are happy that the Federation has had trust in Turin and trust in Piedmont, we are happy that President Binaghi and President Gaudenzi have had trust in Turin and in Piedmont and we want to continue to guarantee this relationship of trust with a very pragmatic attitude, very Sabaudian in some ways, and that allows us to line up the problems each time and one by one to go for a solution. We are here ready to continue to play our part, we have done so since the beginning. When every year I attend President Binaghi's press conference where he tells me how the Nitto ATP Finals were, the thing that strikes me most is the satisfaction, not only of the tourists, but that of the champions, their staff, their coaches, and the tennis world because that is - and I have learnt this over the years - the first prerequisite for relationships to continue. That is to say, that it is good here from a technical sporting point of view, which is what a team expects to find here. And in this I believe that Turin and Piedmont have been a demonstration of great balance; we have embraced the champions when we needed to, but we have let them concentrate when we needed to respect their need to find themselves and to prepare themselves in the best possible way for these competitions.”

Hideo Takasaki, Nitto Denko Corporation President and CEO, said: “This is Nitto's fourth year in Turin, and as the seasons go by we see this event attracting more and more attention and becoming more and more of a world event; an event that is recognised, in organisational terms and in terms of success, very well and despite all the doubts that there were at the beginning. Today we are really excited to see the plans that will be presented by Marco, plans in which we see a great effort on the part of the Federation and ATP to make this event even more important than it has been to date. Improving year after year is an incentive we all have. Nitto has fully supported this event since London, and has pushed to make this event even more important, and continues to do so. Furthermore, as a company that places sustainability at the heart of our strategy, Nitto has a strong desire to contribute to a better global environment, and for the future as well. Last year we contributed to and participated with the FITP, the ATP and the city of Turin in what was called the ‘Nitto ATP Finals Green Project’. This year we are embarking on a new initiative, we are working to be able to build something new to continue to address CO2 reduction in the city that will support such an important event. As far as we are concerned, Nitto still, and even more so, believes in the success of this event and we are sure that in 2024 it will be an even better success than in 2023 and become even more of a world first. We want to wish all of you, tennis players and tournament participants, the best of luck and look forward to joining you in celebrating great tennis in this city.”

Marco Martinasso, FITP General Director, said: “One hundred and twenty-two thousand square metres. The equivalent of 17 football fields, playing at home… over 150 tennis courts: this is the footprint that the Nitto ATP Finals will reach in 2024. A system, an ecosystem, this is how we have defined it from the beginning, which has grown organically, trying to listen to the ever-growing needs of our audience. The Inalpi Arena, the Teatro dei Ragazzi, the Circolo della Stampa Sporting, but above all the Fan Villages, the emblem, the symbol of how this event has transcended tennis to embrace new horizons that look to entertainment, to the active involvement of our audience. And it is experience that is the main pillar on which this year's Masterplan is based, a growing path that somehow seeks to improve further through a bigger, more beautiful and more functional Fan Village.”
